Managing the activities

This station can provide an exciting challenge if introduced and managed with enthusiasm. You can do this by:

• stimulating student investigation (by suggesting they find alternative solutions to the problem, for example)
• challenging students (by asking for explanations of what is happening, for example)
• asking questions (such as, 'How is this related to what happens in a torch or battery toy?')
• giving hints to help any students who are having problems with the activity.

Some students may know all about globes – they may have seen this activity before. Indeed, some experienced students may skip over this station.
