Should the People Rule?

Student introduction

Some countries today are ruled by one person or a small group of people. In those countries, ordinary people have very little say and may even be put in prison or executed for saying something against the government.

Do you know of any countries today where it is dangerous to express your opinions?

In this unit you will compare some of the most important types of government and explore how Australia’s present form of government began long ago in ancient Greece. You will compare ancient Greek government with Australian government today.
