Some batteries are relatively cheap. Others are more expensive.
Some batteries are called alkaline and others are carbon/zinc batteries. Some are rechargeable.
There are several aspects of the electrical energy stored in batteries that you could investigate scientifically. Your group could investigate:
- whether the length of time batteries last is related to the cost of the batteries
- the difference between the lives of alkaline and carbon/zinc batteries or rechargeable and zinc/carbon batteries
- the relative cost of electrical energy from cheap and from more expensive batteries.
Remember, in a well-planned investigation there is one variable you will change and one you will measure. All the other variables must be kept constant.
