Men and Women in Political Life

Student introduction

This unit will help you to find out what is meant by ‘political activity’. You will also learn about eight important Australians. Some of them were active in parliamentary politics and some were active outside the parliamentary system.

You will probably find that some of the important words used in this unit are new to you. To help you learn them, keep a separate page in your workbook and title it ‘personal glossary’. (A glossary is a list of words used in an area of study.)

As you find new words, write them in your personal glossary, together with their definitions. Your teacher will help you with the definitions. Your personal glossary will be needed for one of the Assessment tasks at the end of the unit.
